Typical application fields
The installation process of aluminum rivet nuts involves several key steps, tailored to ensure a secure, permanent thread in the base material:
Preparing the Hole
drill or punch a properly sized hole in the workpiece (typically sheet metal or thin materials). The hole diameter must match the rivet nut's specifications-too small may cause material damage, while too large reduces grip.
01
Selecting Tools
Use a rivet nut tool (manual, pneumatic, or hydraulic) with a mandrel matching the rivet nut's thread size. This tool applies axial force to deform the nut.
02
Inserting the Rivet Nut
Place the aluminum rivet nut into the pre-drilled hole, ensuring its flange sits flush against the workpiece surface to prevent misalignment.
03
Deforming the Nut
Activate the tool to draw the mandrel into the rivet nut. This action causes the unflanged end (shank) to expand radially, compressing the surrounding base material. The expansion creates a tight, vibration-resistant bond.
04
Removing the Tool
Once the rivet nut is fully set (verified by a consistent flange or tool feedback), reverse the tool to retract the mandrel, leaving the deformed nut permanently embedded.
